Phillips’ four neighborhoods are somewhat recent creations of the real estate market. For decades the community contained only one neighborhood, Phillips. Large employers in the Phillips community include Wells Fargo Mortgage, Allina Health Care Services and Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Phillips Neighborhood Amenities
Homeowners in the Phillips neighborhood don’t need to go far for shopping or dining amenities. The Franklin Avenue commercial district is home to a mall built by the American Indian Neighborhood Development Corporation, a bakery, flower shop, grocery store and the library. The Hi-Lake Shopping Center is also a convenient place to shop for area residents.
Phillips celebrates the arts in a number of ways throughout the year. The racial and ethnic diversity in the area gives rise to neighborhood murals, crafts displays, culinary exhibits, musical celebrations and more.
The Phillips community is also home to around a half-dozen community gardens, scattered throughout the neighborhoods. Some of these include the Brian Coyle Community Garden at 1515 Chicago, Good JuJu Garden at 2121 14th Avenue S. and Shalom Community Garden at 2800 15th Avenue S.
