Kenny Community School

Named a 2014 Celebration School, Kenny Community School serves 417 students in grades K through 5. The school employs 22 full-time teachers, giving it an 18:1 student-teacher ratio.

School ratings site SchoolDigger.com ranks Kenny Community 151st out of 820 public elementary schools in Minnesota and gives if four out of five stars.

Students’ statewide performance rates have skyrocketed over the past four years, going from almost rock-bottom at 17.9 percent to 81.6 percent from 2011 to 2015.

In 2015, 74.5 percent of Kenny fifth graders met or exceeded the standards in math on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments. The district’s average is 44.9 percent and the state’s is 59.7 percent. They did even better on the reading portion, with 78.4 percent meeting or exceeding the standard. The district averaged 48.6 percent in reading and the state’s average is 66.7 percent.
