Minneapolis is a great area to live for college sports fans. There is the University of Minnesota rising to the top when it comes to athletics and academics. It’s the 4th largest college in the nation supporting 25 D-1 men’s and women’s sports.

Whether you’re a fan of football, volleyball, soccer or hockey, the Golden Gophers are producing amazing men’s and women’s teams to earn the titles every year. Here is a look at Gopher sports in Minneapolis right now.

The Minnesota Golden Gopher Volleyball team is currently in the Big 10 Conference. The nationally-ranked team contains All-Big 10 players on the court. You can check them out in the Sports Pavilion located at the University of Minnesota.

The University’s women’s soccer team is an absolutely incredible team. They are celebrating their 20th year as a team in the fall and are going to have a big year with the return of fifth-year senior Tamara Strahota and having nine starters returning.

This is supposed to be the toughest schedule in program history so the Maroon & Gold team is going to need all of the preparation they can get. They’ll have 12 home games and seven road tests.

College football fans love living in Minneapolis to root on the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Big 10 football is coming in the fall and the team is ready to face off on what is expected to be the most talented divisions in years. The TCF Bank Stadium is where you’ll find this team playing. The outdoor stadium is located at 2009 University Avenue SE and features a horseshoe, open-air design holding up to 50,000 fans.

Hockey fans can check out the Mariucci Arena at 1901 4th Street SE to see the Golden Gopher women’s and men’s hockey teams or check out basketball at the Williams Arena.
