The Basilica of Saint Mary is a beautiful building in Minnesota for people to gather of all faiths and races. It’s a place of refuge for the poor, a center for the arts and a place dedicated in growth and social well-being for the community.

They celebrate weekend Eucharist, Christmas and Easter, baptisms and funerals, as well as wedding. All people are welcome here from any race, financial status, those living in the suburbs or the inner city neighborhoods.

There are over 6,700 families that are members here and several outreach programs to help those in need in the community. Here is a look at what you’ll find at the Basilica of Saint Mary.

About the Basilica

The Basilica of Saint Mary is a traditional church with a modern message. It’s located at the corner of 16th Street and Hennepin in Minneapolis and was founded in 1907. It’s more than just a beautiful building, but also a place of worship, refuge and peace. They work with the St. Vincent de Paul society to offer shoes and work boots to those in needs, with Meals on Wheels and through Pathways to help families find employment and stabilize their lives.

Joining the Basilica

The Basilica is located at 1600 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. Their church hours include weekdays from 6:30am to 5pm, Saturdays from 8am to 6:30pm and Sundays from 6:30am to 7:30pm. You can easily join the parish community because they welcome people from all backgrounds.

Just fill out a new member form online or call the parish to request a membership packet in the mail. New parishioners are welcome to a welcome meal where you can meet other members, the staff and learn more about programs and ministries available.
