With new construction in high demand all over the Twin Cities right now, home builders are continuing to look for new and improved ways to attract home buyers, ensuring their product stands out above the competition. While it’s true every home buyer out there has their own wish list of demands, there are plenty of different design elements that are commonly being sought out among active buyers right now, of which some were just recently outlined in a survey from BUILDER.
According to all kinds of real estate professionals working in various aspects of the industry, here are just a few of the noteworthy design trends you’ll likely find in countless new construction homes in Minneapolis and all throughout the country:
- Neutral color schemes - While this one may seem pretty obvious, it’s nice to finally see buildings incorporate at least some color inside a recently built home. While leaving the walls white in many instances still makes sense, painting some walls a neutral color certainly helps make a home show better to anybody considering it as a viable option.
- White kitchens - It seems like kitchen design trends always come and go quickly; but according to most design pros, white kitchens are the hot new look. How long will it last? It’s hard telling, but for now, apparently you can’t go wrong with white.
- Barn sliding doors - You might’ve noticed that the industrial look has been hot for the last 12 to 18 months, especially in newer construction condos. Concrete ceilings, polished concrete floors, huge open layouts—buyers seem to be loving all those classic urban finishes. But in single-family homes, rural-inspired finishes like reclaimed wood and huge barn sliding doors are also red hot right now, which help give new homes a little extra charm and character.
