With the 4th of July rapidly approaching, we thought now might be a good time to get you up-to-speed on all the events and festivities that are taking place throughout Minneapolis over the holiday weekend. So if you’re planning to spend this year’s Fourth here in Minneapolis and are looking for something to do, here’s a short list of what’s going on:
Red, White, and Boom!
An annual celebration that’s hosted by the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board, the Red, White, and Boom festival brings 75,000 people to the city’s scenic riverfront for live music, tons of good food, family-friendly activities, and of course a spectacular fireworks show for the grand finale.
Red, White, and Boom! Twin Cities Half Marathon, Relay, and 5K
Before you gear up for all the fun-filled happenings on the riverfront, don’t forget to participate in the variety of races that coincide with the Red, White, and Boom! festival, which include a half marathon, a 6.5 mile relay race, and of course the 5K as well! Newbies and experienced runners are all welcome, so be sure to register now and get an early start on what should be a fun-filled day from sun-up to sun-down!
Twins vs. Oakland A's
Prior to the fireworks show, swinging over to Target Field to catch the Minnesota Twins take on the Oakland Athletics is also an option if you’re planning to spend the Fourth of July in the Twin Cities. The game starts at 1 p.m., which leaves you with plenty of time to check out the Red, White, and Boom! festival afterwards!
