One of our favorite local brands is officially opening its first retail store, per a report in the Star Tribune. Minneapolis-based stocking hat maker Love Your Melon has announced it will soon take over a retail space over at Washington and 3rd Avenues, but that the store won’t exactly be a traditional one with normal operating hours.

In fact, the plan for now is to only have the store open once or twice a month while mostly featuring brand new products in limited editions.

As for what the store will be used for otherwise, the co-founder and president Love Your Melon says it’ll be occupied by influencers and celebrities who work with the brand to do live, on-site photo and video shoots.

De La Pointe CondosUnits at the lavish new condo development dubbed De La Pointe are officially on the market, according to a new report out from the Minneapolis Business Journal. Although it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long, plans for the new project were first announced all the way back in 2015 but are only just now coming through the pipeline.

Prices for available condos at De La Pointe start at $1.25 for a half-floor unfinished space and $2.5 million for a finished space. There’s also a full floor unit with over 5,000 square feet that’s now available to buyers, which is currently listed for $4.5 million.

With the holiday season officially in full swing, most of 2017 is in the books, making now a great time to look back at the year that was. Overall, it was a positive year for the Twin Cities housing market as both sales and home prices increased, all while interest rates still remained low.

Also noted by the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors, more homes in the region sold in less time and closer to their original asking price as well, which of course is music to home sellers’ ears.

As for home prices specifically, it’s estimated that we’ll close the year around $245,500, which would be up nearly 6.5% compared to 2016. As alluded to above, Twin Cities area homes also only sat on the market for a quick 56 days, which is nearing a 14% decline

Washington County is poised for plenty of new development over the next few years, specifically in Woodbury, Newport, and Cottage Grove. So far, three major housing projects are currently in the works for these Minneapolis suburbs, and two of the three will already be starting construction in the very near future.

The new Bailey Meadows community, which represents the largest new development of the bunch, will encompass 64-acres and feature 189 home sites.
