The city of Minneapolis is making a strong pitch to developers to build up on the city’s north side neighborhoods by offering all sorts of incentives, which is an effort that the Star Tribune picked up just recently. 

As a part of Minneapolis that was among the worst hit during the recession, the recovery throughout much of the city’s north side hasn’t been quite as robust as in other parts of town, which of course is the primary motivation for the new plan-of-action.

Cove at Northwoods Park Homes For SaleAccording to recent reports, another D.R. Horton community could be coming to a development site near Target’s Brooklyn Park campus, which is sits only about a half hour from downtown Minneapolis.

Twin Cities New DevelopmentDevelopment is widespread all over the Twin Cities area right now, and it’s something that is especially evident when you can see it all unfolding on a map. 

Just this month alone, developers have proposed several new large-scale developments for the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, including a massive 26-story apartment tower and another luxury hotel-condo combo development that’s being planned for the North Loop.

Downtown Minneapolis CondosWith condo inventory down throughout much of Downtown Minneapolis, an investment group is currently planning to develop a new 8-story hotel and condo building that could potentially include up to 125 luxury hotel rooms and 70 high-end condominium residences. 

According to multiple reports, the investment group, which is headed by Howard Bergerud, has already acquired the building site, which is almost entirely used as a surface parking lot and located along First Street North not far from the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis.  

Along with the hotel rooms and condo residences, plans also involve three levels of underground parking, as well as restaurant and retail space that would mostly occupy the building’s ground level.

Job growth is no doubt one of the key elements in what’s boosting the Minneapolis housing market right now and no industry is adding jobs to the state of Minnesota quite like tech. 

According to recently released data from CompTIA, Minnesota added an estimated 2,226 new technology jobs in 2016, brining the state’s overall total number of workings in the technology industry to roughly 140,970. 

The recent spike in tech jobs added to the Minnesota economy now ranks the state 17th among the 50 states in terms of tech-related employment, and that ranking is expected to get even better as the local tech sector here in the Twin Cities area and throughout the state continues to expand.
