If you know what’s good for you then February 14, Valentine’s Day, will be the center of your plans for this February 2016. But that’s not all that’s happening in and around Minneapolis. Dig out the calendar and circle the dates for these events.

Celebrate Chinese New Year!

It’s the Year of the Monkey and you’re invited to help ring it in at Midtown Global Market on Friday, February 5. Experience the traditional lion dance, performed to chase away evil spirits. There will be stuff for the kids to do and lots more. This is one fun event. It happens from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at 920 E. Lake St. in Minneapolis.

What would the St. Paul Winter Carnival be without the Beer Dabbler? Not as much fun, that’s for sure.

Minneapolis is home to 47 outdoor ice rinks, scattered across the city. In addition, you’ll find indoor arenas across the metro. Today, we concentrate on outdoor skating since this is the season for that.

Do you realize that the official start of spring is only two months away? So, lace ‘em up and get out there and practice your camel spin before it’s too late.

Lake of the Isles

Lake of the Isles park is so convenient to many Minneapolis neighborhoods and it’s a great place to skate or get in some hockey practice. Lake of the Isles is one of the few Minneapolis rinks that remains open until March 1, weather permitting. The park is located at 2500 Lake Isles Pkwy in Minneapolis.

Powderhorn Park

We love this park and its rink-with-a-view.

Here's a look at some Minneapolis eateries that serve up our favorite local burger.

Ok, here we go: MAC stands for Metropolitan Airports Commission, home of the “Noise Program.” What this program does is ponder ways to reduce aircraft noise in the neighborhoods near the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and what the MAC office calls their “six reliever airports.”
