With Thanksgiving just a few days away, attempting to get a reservation at this point may be an exercise in futility, but, hey, it’s worth a try, right? If you just can’t bear another holiday spent in the kitchen, we have a few dining out options for you, arranged by price from the highest to the lowest.

Thanksgiving brunch and dinner is being served at Windows of Minnesota on the 50th floor of the IDS tower, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The price for adults is $43, for children age 5 to 11 the price is $17 and children under four eat free. Call for reservations at 612-376-7474.

Last year at this time NeighborWorks America published the results of a study that finds 70 percent of homebuyers aren’t aware of the down payment programs available to them. And, if you think these programs are restricted to borrowers with low incomes, think again. Even those that are considered middle-income earners may qualify for some of these assistance programs.

The Programs

Down payment and closing cost assistance programs are offered by the city, county, state and federal governments and they vary in how the assistance is structured. Homebuyers may be offered a loan or a grant.

The programs also vary in who they serve. Some are only for first-time homebuyers; some have income restrictions.

This month, MinneapolisRealEstate.com takes a look at one of the city’s 10 public high schools, Washburn. Located in Minneapolis’ Tangletown neighborhood, the school is administered by Minneapolis Public Schools and serves 1,320 students with 64 full-time teachers. The student/teacher ratio at Washburn is about 20:1.

Curriculum and Activities

Aside from the core curriculum, Washburn offers International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme classes in math, Spanish, French, history, science, math and the arts. The school also offers a program for the gifted and talented and post-secondary enrollment options.
