Anthony Middle School, as it is known throughout the community, is located in Minneapolis’ Kenny neighborhood. It serves 776 students in grades 6 through 8. The school employs 40 full-time teachers, giving it a student-teacher ratio of about 19:1
Anthony Middle School’s stated goal is that “through academic excellence, along with respect, readiness, and responsibility, students will reach their highest potential.” All students participate in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme.
The school also offers many opportunities for students to reach that potential through both athletics and extracurricular activities and clubs.
The school is proud of their athletes’ achievements and offers students the chance to participate in volleyball, football, basketball, baseball and softball.

School ratings site GreatSchools.org gives Anthony Middle School seven out of a possible 10 stars. SchoolDigger.com awards the school four out of a possible five stars and ranks it 142nd of 519 Minnesota public middle schools.
In 2015, Anthony 8th graders did exceptionally well on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment-III (MCA-III) math exams, with 73 percent meeting or exceeding the standard. The district’s average is 43.6 percent and the state’s is 57.8 percent.
These 8th graders bested the district and the state on the reading portion of the exams as well, with 66.3 percent meeting or exceeding the standard. The district’s average is 421 percent while the state’s is 56 percent. They performed just as well in science, showing that Anthony Middle School 8th graders are ready for high school.
